March 24 Field Trip

Join us for our first outing of the year. We will visit the Pandapas Pond area to see skunk cabbage in flower along Poverty Creek. Additionally this hike will take us by an active beaver pond.

Meeting Cancelled

Due to the weather forecast the Feb 13 meeting has been cancelled. David Darnell has rescheduled his program, "Weed laws and wildflowers," for our April meeting.

Our next meeting is March 13. Carol Wolfe will present a slide show on woodland wildflowers.

The winter 2007 newsletter is in process so look for it in the next week.

Next Meeting

The New River Chapter will hold its next meeting Tuesday, February 13. David Darnell will present "Weed Laws and Wildflowers." As the Town of Blacksburg's lawn ordinance officer David can help us understand just what differentiates an offensive lot of weeds from an enhancing garden of native plants.

Meetings are held at 7:00 in the Virginia Tech Greenhouse Classroom on Washington St (adjacent to McComas Hall). For more information conact David Jones, 552-3058 or dajones@vt.edu.
