Chapter Meeting and Field Trips

June 2006 Newsletter

Chapter Meeting

Garden Designer George McClellan to Speak on Native Rhododendrons. George Keen McClellan knows rhododendrons inside and out. He will be sharing information gained from his extensive experience both studying and growing native rhododendrons at our meeting July 20th, 7 pm at the York County Public Library on Rt. 17 and Battle Rd. George is an active member of the Rhododendron Society and the Holly Society and is a longtime member of the John Clayton Chapter of VNPS. In addition to designing gardens for others, he is currently rescuing his own garden, (adjacent to the Ware River), from the devastation wrought on it by Hurricane Isabel. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about the taxonomy, ecology, and cultivation of our native rhododendrons, including both the evergreen-leaved and deciduous leaved (azalea) members.
